Animated video: examination of a bladder

When blood is found in your urine, a next step could be to do a cystoscopy to examine your bladder. This is a procedure in which the doctor looks inside your body with a cystoscope inserted through the urethra.

A cystoscope is a thin tube with a camera and light at the end. This inside view allows your doctor to look for causes of bleeding or abnormalities of the bladder and its lining.

In the video below the procedure is further explained.
